Unfolding Faith Video by Sharon Walker
I stepped out into the parking lot, only to be greeted by a downpour. Raindrops, like crystal beads, down pouring from the sky, drenching everything in their path. As I hurried to the car, I found myself caught in the midst of the storm, feeling the cool droplets seeping through my clothes. It was in that moment, soaked and vulnerable, that I couldn't help but reflect on the umbrellas I owned. They were scattered across different spaces - in my car, on my desk, or forgotten at home. The irony struck me: how similar this situation was to our approach to faith.
Faith, so much like an umbrella, is within our reach. Yet, it often lies forgotten, and untouched when life’s storms hit. We possess this powerful shield, but in the chaos of our lives, it remains unused, leaving us exposed and defenseless. Imagine having multiple umbrellas but never having one when you need it the most. This scenario mirrors our lives when we have faith but fail to apply it during challenging times.
Just as an umbrella shields us from the rain, faith has the incredible potential to shield us from the adversities of life. Faith offers comfort, strength, and our unwavering belief that there is a purpose to every trial we face. Yet, much like those neglected umbrellas, our faith often rests in the corners of our minds, untouched and unapplied.
Life, like the rain, is unpredictable. It can pour unexpectedly, leaving us drenched and longing for shelter. Faith, however, should be our constant companion, a reliable gift from God in the face of life's uncertainties. It's not about the absence of storms, but about having the faith to endure them.
In the midst of the downpour, I realized that faith, when embraced and utilized, can transform our experiences. It's not just a passive belief, but an active shield that we must consciously take up. We must be proactive in applying our faith, just as we would open an umbrella when the rain begins to fall. By doing so, we create a sacred place within ourselves, shielding our spirits from despair, fear, anxiety, doubt-attacks from the enemy.
So, the next time life’s storm clouds gather and raindrops fall, let's remember the lesson from the forgotten umbrellas. Let's not leave our faith behind, but instead, let's take up the shield of faith.Taking up the shield of faith will guide us, protect us, strengthen us and allow us to fight back against these attacks. In the tapestry of life, faith is not just a thread; it's the unbreakable bond that holds everything together, ensuring that we emerge from the storm, not just unscathed, but stronger and more resilient than ever before.
